The doors at the Lewis Correction Facility don’t lock. They haven’t locked for over five years in this level 4 facility (level 5 is the most dangerous), but nothing is being done to fix them. Instead, guards are told not to talk about it or they will be fired, they’ll lose their pensions. Guards have been severely beaten. Prisoners have been murdered in their cells. Still, nothing is done to fix the locks on the doors. Guards must patrol unarmed, no guns are allowed for their “safety.” Prison reform is needed all over the country, but no more so than this Lewis Prison in Buckeye, Arizona, where level 4 violent prisoners are roaming around the prison, attacking guards and other prisoners at will. Six videos were leaked to the media. The people who leaked them have since been fired.
