De Blasio Mandates ‘Meatless Mondays’ To Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions (VIDEO)

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio is prohibiting meat from being served at in New York City public schools on Monday to fight global warming.“Cutting back on meat a little will improve New Yorker’s health and reduce greenhouse gas emissions,” the Democrat mayor said in a statement Monday. “We’re expanding Meatless Mondays to all public schools to keep our lunch and planet green for generations to come.”

Students will be served an all vegetarian breakfast and lunch every Monday beginning in the fall. The “Meatless Mondays” program first launched in Spring 2018 for 15 Brooklyn schools and expanding the program city-wide, de Blasio assures, will be cost neutral. The mandated vegetarian-based diet for New York City public schools comes amid Democrat lawmakers urging veganism in their Green New Deal Plan, which would drastically change how food is produced and ultimately what Americans eat.
