Leftists, who incessantly charge Republicans with accusations of racism, have engulfed American politics with blackface scandals in recent weeks.
Virginia Governor Ralph Northam, who won his seat by falsely portraying his Republican opponent Ed Gillespie as a racist, inaugurated African American history month with a blackface photograph. The image, which surfaced last week from his college yearbook, shows Northam standing alongside a man in a Ku Klux Klan outfit. Northam claims he wore blackface at the time to imitate Michael Jackson.
Now pop star Katy Perry is taking a new edition of shoes she designed off the market in response to backlash claiming they imitate blackface.
“In order to be respectful and sensitive the team is in the process of pulling the shoes,” a source close Perry told TMZ.
The shoes, which depict a blue-eyed face on top of black material, were previously being marketed at Walmart.

Now pop star Katy Perry is taking a new edition of shoes she designed off the market in response to criticism claiming they imitate blackface.
“In order to be respectful and sensitive the team is in the process of pulling the shoes,” a source close Perry told TMZ.
The shoes, which depict a blue-eyed face on top of black material, were previously being marketed at Walmart and other stores.
Perry has repeatedly been accused of “cultural appropriation” by the social justice left, yet the 34-year-old performer is a staunch leftist activist. In an interview with Paper magazine published Friday, Perry said that she has a dartboard with President Trump on it in her house that she uses to relieve stress.
Another top Virginia Democrat, Attorney General Mark Herring also admitted last week to wearing blackface. Herring issued a statement Wednesday saying he wore brown makeup and a wig in 1980 to look like a black rapper during a party as an undergraduate at the University of Virginia.
Last week, filmmaker Spike Lee and rapper T.I. started boycotting fashion designers Prada and Gucci, after both companies were accused of racism with products resembling blackface. Gucci, in response, recalled a black sweater with a red cut-out for the mouth that was resoundingly criticized for depicting blackface.
In December, Prada apologized after pulling a line of keychains, necklaces, T-shirts and other products featuring a monkey character that condemned for appearing to depict the “Sambo” figure, a racist image of a person with dark skin and exaggerated red lips.
A photograph of Joy Behar, co-host of ABC’s The View, surfaced on Thursday in which the ardent critic of President Trump is seen wearing makeup to darken her skin for a Halloween costume. Behar explained she was dressed as a “beautiful African woman” in the 1970’s era photo.
Leftist activists and Democrat lawmakers continuously accuse Trump and Republicans of being proponents of white supremacy, but the eruption of bigoted scandals currently encompassing Democratic leadership is emblematic of the party’s 100 year legacy of supporting segregation.
