I was a lifelong Democrat until the last few years. I’d become dissatisfied with the status-quo from the Democratic party. The pandering to special interests rather than the average American citizen. My parents were blue collar workers, my father a WWII veteran, my mother raised working in cotton fields. I came from people the Democratic party claimed to represent. But they’ve lost touch with the likes of us. They couldn’t care less anymore.

That was never more painfully obvious than when Hillary Clinton ignored the Rust Belt, where people were hurting from low incomes and unemployment, in favor of gay rights and illegal immigration. She ignored the issues of the average American worker, average American family in favor of special interest groups. It cost her the election.

Throughout President Trump’s tenure, they’ve tried any and every means necessary to cast aspersions on him, his family, his cabinet. They’ve called Press Secretary Sarah Sanders a cow, a pig. Democratic restaurant owners and patrons have tossed Republicans out of their restaurants. People wearing MAGA hats or showing support for Trump have been beaten in the streets.

Is this what my former party has become? A bunch of schoolyard bullies who are intolerant, violent, disrespectful and rude? They claim to be the party of tolerance, but for the last 2.5 years they have been anything but that. At best they can be categorized as pouting and childish.

Hillary lost, folks. Fair and square according to the election laws set forth by our founding fathers. Pull up your panties and find a candidate who can do something other than pander to the “disenfranchised” and “marginalized.” I’m here to tell you, that’s not who you think it is. The disenfranchised are folks like me who believe in free speech, who believe in working hard and making our own living, who believe that socialism is bad. Look around. No truly socialist country in the history of the world has succeeded. And the average American does NOT want our land of the free and home of the brave to be destroyed by socialistic ideas of guaranteed income, guaranteed housing. In other words, the Green New Deal their darling loves to tout as the way to “fix” America.

America doesn’t need to be fixed, Democrats. It’s the greatest country in the world. It’s the richest country in the world. Its citizens enjoy more freedom than any other country in the world. Your socialistic ideas would be the end of all that. It’s already infringed on the rights of free speech and freedom of religion. You’ve prevented people from being able to decide who they will or will not do business with. You’ve allowed babies to be aborted full term, to lay on a table and die. Yet, in the next breath you call to abolish capital punishment as “cruel” and “evil” and “murder.” Just look at NYC, where Democratic leaders want to release felons over the age of 55.

If you want to save the Democratic party, you’ll stop the vocal hate your representatives express. The intolerance shown by your constituents to those who have a difference of opinion. The need to treat anyone who doesn’t agree with them with disrespect and violence.

Today, the Democratic house has sunk to a new low. When AG William Barr chose not to appear before the House Judiciary Committee to be questioned on the Mueller report, instead of allowing his chair to remain empty, as any “tolerant” and respectful group of people would have done, they placed a KFC box with a rubber chicken in his place. They called him a coward for not subjecting himself to what would have amounted to a trial by lawyers for the left. Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY), chairman of the committee, is the most disrespectful of them all, and should be removed from his position.

But he won’t be. They protect their own, just as they’re accusing the Republican party of doing and then call it a crime. Their behavior is criminal. It’s disrespectful not only to Barr, but to the intelligence of the American people.

We’re not fooled that you’re doing this for us, friends. We know you’re doing it for political purposes. You’re hoping that this will cause the American people to vote for one of your (23 so far) Democratic candidates for president. You’re doing whatever you think it takes to get votes. You’re desperate.

I’m afraid you haven’t fooled me, and you haven’t fooled the majority of the American people. I won’t be voting for a Democrat come 2020. You’ve lost my confidence. I never tolerated bullies as a child, and I’m less tolerant as an adult. Take your toys and go home. You’re done.
